Bitterness and greed are two attitudes that reap a destructive harvest after they take root and are nurtured. I am often interested in how people react when they don’t get what they think they deserve, or when they lose a position they believe should be theirs.

Last Friday at the Senior School Christmas Service the choir sang ‘O Holy Night’ and did so superbly. It is a beautiful carol that was written by a French poet after a request from his parish priest.

This coming Sunday, commencing at 10.30am, we will be holding the annual Memorial Service for people within the Carey community who have lost loved ones over the past 12 months. It is a time to reflect upon the impact that a loved one has had on our lives.

Last Saturday morning I heard an interview with a Western Bulldogs supporter, he had never seen them play in a Grand Final. He was 101. He was also a minister. In 1954 when the Bulldogs won their first Grand Final he was conducting a wedding.

There is a prayer which goes like this… ‘Lord please grant me patience, and I want it now!’ It is always a challenge to remain patient when time is slipping away. Getting stuck in traffic can really test our patience, even though there is nothing much we can do about it.
