Welcome back for Term 4 – the update regarding APS sport is that we are hopeful to be commencing the summer APS season for First teams and rowing crews in mid-November (pending government advice). Outdoor, modified training for these teams and crews may be able to start in a modified form when all students return on 19 October. There will be no organised Saturday APS sport for non-First teams (other than rowing) in Term 4. Please keep your eye on the Daily Messages and the School’s social media sites for more updates.
In light of the changed circumstances, we are delighted to announce a sensational sporting/fitness program for all Carey students, staff and parents. CareyFit will be our go-to program in Term 4, a bespoke online sporting platform, designed especially for Carey students and led by former Carey student and elite netballer Sarah Wall.
CareyFit’s age-specific workouts provide live online sports training/physical activity with a twist. Delivered in one-hour per week sessions divided across four age groups from Prep to Year 12, CareyFit is an innovative virtual health and fitness platform aimed at keeping the school community physically active, whether they are at school or learning from home.
Sarah and her team provide high-class and engaging summer sport programs, with sessions co-hosted by a range of elite athletes, including test cricketers, Hockeyroos, AFL footballers, AIS and VIS graduates, among others. Each of the guests are eager to share their sports-specific know-how and leadership sessions direct to the screens of Carey students, either in the classroom or at home.
Exclusively for Carey students and families, CareyFit commences on Monday 12 October with age-specific, bespoke programs running for eight weeks and covering a range of summer sports including cricket, badminton, rowing, table tennis. It is available to all students and staff on Canvas through the CareyConnect course, which you can read more about in Deputy Principal Peter Robson’s article in this newsletter.
Students, staff and parents will love the fun, challenging and Carey-specific content to keep students engaged, happy and healthy throughout Term 4. Keep your eyes out on CareyLink and Carey’s social media sites for specific details in the coming weeks and check out the launch video to find out more.
