It was apparent in the 1990s that both organisations were not large enough to support a robust girls’ school sporting competition and, as a result, the two organisations merged. In the years since, 12 member schools (six from the APS and six from the AGSV) have been competing in summer and winter sports fixtures with incredible success, with over 5000 girls participating in from Year 7 to 12 over 15 sports each week!
In that time, our Carey girls have been one of the dominant forces in the APS/AGSV competition. We enter teams in every sport offered and have maintained a consistently high standard of performance, winning an incredible 35 premierships in the years since the inception of the competition. Notwithstanding the success of our teams, we are immensely proud of how all of our girls play sport – whether it be in Firsts or the D team, our girls continue to be a driving force for the girls’ sport cause and play with pride, passion and a sense of fun and enjoyment.
Well done girls, here’s to the next 25 years!
