It has been an absolute pleasure becoming part of the Carey Baptist Grammar School community in 2022.
After graduating from the Masters of Learning Intervention, with a specialisation in Specific Learning Difficulties, I accepted a position as a Learning Development teacher. In Semester 1, I have had the privilege of teaching students in Years 1, 3 and 5 and working with both staff and families.
Little did I know that the opportunity to step into the role as the next Deputy Head of Junior School – Student Learning was just around the corner. This new appointment excites me because it brings together my previous leadership experience, breadth of teaching knowledge and holistic understanding of the nature of education.
For me, education is a dynamic, evolving and transformative experience. Education equips us to courageously ask questions, develop skills and knowledge, learn from the past and boldly invent the future. Education creates possibilities we didn’t even know were there.
Prior to joining Carey, I had heard it was a unique school setting which created a culture of inclusion, embraced diversity, and celebrated the power of the whole child – and the moment I stepped onto the Kew grounds, somehow, I tangibly felt these things and I knew I had found my place.
I feel privileged to be a part of the Carey school community and to be working with a team of passionate and dedicated staff. Over the coming months I look forward to continuing to build upon the strong foundations laid before me, and most importantly getting to know all the Carey community.
