On Wednesday 23 March, the fabulous Gender Equity Film Night took place. We screened Moxie, a movie about a girl who decides to stand up against sexism in her school and starts writing an anonymous magazine to tell people that girls can do anything that boys can. It was a movie that showed real girl power.
At 6.00pm, people started showing up. Almost everyone had brought food to munch on during the movie, but Ms Young was prepared in case people hadn’t brought anything. We had chips, lolly snakes, burgers and even Harvest Snaps! The tables were laden with every goodie you could imagine.
After the first half of the movie, we had an intermission. Everyone was on a sugar high from all the lollies so, for no reason, we all started sliding around on the floor. After a couple minutes of sliding and stocking up on more junk, we got back to the movie, which then included a series of dramatic scenes, before the even more dramatic ending where justice was served (whoooo)! We ended by finishing off our treats and having a few rounds of Just Dance. Overall, it was a fun experience and the next time there is another movie night, you should come!
