It is with great pleasure that we announce two Carey students’ selection in the 2023 VCAA Top Designs exhibition, which showcases the exemplary work of the state's top performing VCE students in design.

Noah Abdelmalak and Harrison Carr's designs were selected from a highly competitive pool of student submissions. These two students are among two of only eight selected for the Product Design and Technology – Resistant Materials category in the state, highlighting the exceptional nature of their work.

Noah’s artist storage box showcases his attention to detail and his ability to seamlessly blend traditional woodworking techniques with modern technologies such as laser cutting, CNC routing and CAD design work. His box provides practical storage solutions for artists while also serving as a beautiful and functional product.

Harrison children's furniture for a hospital setting (feature image) demonstrates his deep understanding of the importance of comfort and safety in design. His furniture pieces provide a cheerful and welcoming environment for children in hospitals, while also being easily sterilised and maintained for hygiene purposes.

Overall, the inclusion of Noah and Harrison’s work in the VCAA Top Designs exhibition reflects their dedication to their studies in Product Design and Technology and their ability to push boundaries in their field. We congratulate them on this incredible achievement.

The VCAA Top Designs exhibition provides an opportunity for students to showcase their work to a wider audience and gain recognition for their hard work and dedication. The exhibition features work across a range of disciplines, including Media, Visual Communication and Design, systems engineering and Product Design and Technology. This exhibition is a true testament to the incredible talent and creativity of Victoria's young minds. These students have demonstrated exceptional skill, creativity, and ingenuity in their work, and their pieces are a true representation of the high level of talent that exists within our school community.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to view the selected works and gain an insight into the creative process behind each piece. It is an excellent opportunity to gain inspiration and ideas for future projects, and to appreciate the creativity and talent of our state's young designers.

We are incredibly proud of Noah and Harrison and the exceptional work they have produced. Their achievements are a testament to their hard work, dedication, and talent, and we look forward to seeing their work on display at the VCAA Top Designs exhibition.

The exhibition will be held at the Melbourne Museum from 25 March to 9 July 2023.
