Our message to students this year is simple but powerful: invest deeply in your learning. Lean into effort, embrace the moments when learning feels challenging, and recognise that struggle is often the gateway to growth. Our staff are here to support and guide them, and we will continue to challenge our students intentionally so they can extend themselves, discover their capabilities and take pride in the progress they make across all aspects of the Carey program.
Our expert staff
I would like to acknowledge the tremendous work of our staff in preparing for the year ahead. Their commitment to creating purposeful, engaging and supportive environments has ensured that students have been able to step confidently into their learning from day one. The professionalism and care shown across our campuses set a strong foundation for the coming months.
I am also pleased that many of you have had the opportunity to meet members of our Executive Leadership Team as they step into their roles for the year ahead:
Mr Jake Plasket, Deputy Principal – Years 7–12, brings a strong commitment to academic excellence grounded in care and genuine connection.
Mrs Kellie Lyneham, Deputy Principal – Quality and Innovation, will lead our continuous improvement work across the School and the refining of our operational processes to build greater efficiency.
Dr Karl Sebire, Executive Director – Strategy and Partnerships, offers deep expertise in digital learning, staff development and enterprise. Karl will be instrumental in shaping new business opportunities that support Carey’s long‑term strategic direction.
We also warmly welcome Mrs Renée Jackson, Office Manager to the Principal. Should you need to contact me directly, communication through Renée will ensure timely support.
A strong sense of belonging remains central to the wellbeing of every member of our community. I encourage all families to connect with others through Carey’s many avenues – sport, music, the creative and performing arts, and the various parent groups including CLOSA (Carey Local and Overseas Student Association) and our Parent Associations. These connections enrich family experiences, build friendships and strengthen the fabric of our community.
As we move further into the term, I encourage you to stay engaged with the updates and opportunities shared through our newsletters and bulletins. These are valuable channels for staying informed about events, programs and initiatives across the School. Open communication between home and school is vital, and we deeply value your partnership as we work together to create the best possible environment for every Carey student.
I am excited to share that our music department has received a highly significant gift – a Steinway Concert Grand. Carey’s new piano was made possible by the generosity of the Su & Sun Family, parents of Chantelle in ELC and Christina in Year 6.
I invite you and your children to join us at a special unveiling event on the evening of 20 February 2026. For more information and to RSVP, click here:
Thank you to all in our community for your ongoing support, trust and commitment to our school. I look forward to all that we will achieve together in 2026.
Jonathan Walter
Principal
