This year, Talent Development organised more than 30 competitions, with some of these running for the full year. We expanded offerings in Mathematics, Science, History, Politics, International Relations and cross-disciplinary competitions. Some of these are open to all students, and others are selective.
We had very strong interest in all Mathematics Competitions, and the Australian Mathematics Competition (AMC), the longest running maths competition in Australia, was our largest event, with more than 260 Carey students participating. Organising and running this was a major feat, as it had to occur within a period of a few days and took the extraordinary efforts of a variety of staff on all campuses.
In the event, open to all interested, our student results were as follows:
Prize Awards: 2 students
Prize Award and Best in School: 1 student
High Distinctions: 22 students
Distinctions: 85 students
Credit Awards: 95 students
I believe that if the event had not clashed with other events, we would have had an even larger cohort of interested students!
We’re looking forward to the 2026 competition season for students to showcase their talents and passions at state and national levels.
