As such, the Digital Transformation project we began in 2022 has been an important opportunity to refresh our technology services at Carey and ensure we are providing the best digital environment for our students. This has involved the development of a long-term technology strategy, which I am pleased to update you on and share with you our goals for 2025.
Our three-step approach
There are three main goals for our technology strategy:
Establishing the foundation
To establish a solid foundation, we have been working on several key initiatives:
Current focus and future plans
Our current focus is on selecting, planning and implementing a new School Management System, which is currently delivered to parents through Synergetic. The new system will transform our school operations, digital experience and productivity. Additionally, we are working towards replacing CareyLink with a modern platform that supports students, parents and staff in communicating, collaborating and building community in a simplified manner. More information will be provided on these initiatives over the coming year.
Our AI learning journey
As technology becomes even more important and embedded in the future of learning and schools, AI is a common topic of both concern and excitement amongst school communities. In 2025, we have begun our AI learning journey to explore the potential of technology in enriching our community's work, teaching and learning. We have held several workshops with the School Leadership Team, other School leaders and interested staff to define our philosophy and culture towards AI, develop an AI strategy and roadmap, and implement guardrails for a safe venture into the use of AI over the next 18 to 24 months. We will have further updates as we progress this important work.
Cybersecurity awareness
Our focus on cybersecurity ensures a secure foundation through best practice policies, a robust cyber and technology risk framework, and ongoing phishing, testing and incident response simulations.
We raise awareness through initiatives like Cybersecurity Awareness Month in October, expert talks from our alumni community, Daily Messages, and digital and physical signage. These initiatives focus on password management, data protection and providing cybersecurity best practices.
If you see any suspicious cyber activities or have concerns, please report to our cybersecurity number, 03 9816 1500, or email cyber@carey.com.au
We are excited to continue our important work in digitally transforming Carey and will keep you updated along the way. Ensuring our school’s technology and digital environment are safe, innovative and grounded by strong foundations will allow our students, staff and families to have the best Carey experience possible.
