Pornography has become a parenting issue we can no longer afford to ignore. In today’s world of smartphones and laptops, exposure to pornography is almost impossible to avoid – even for young children. For many young men in particular, consumption has become normalised, but today’s pornography is far from what it once was. Modern content is often aggressive and can significantly influence young people’s understanding of sex, relationships and consent.

We invite all parents to attend an important presentation led by Maree Crabbe, Director of the violence prevention initiative, ‘It’s time we talked’. Maree is a highly respected expert and documentary filmmaker whose work explores the impact of pornography on young people’s sexual development. Maree is a past guest speaker of the CCF to a full house of parents in the IWA. She has been invited back to speak online by popular demand.

This parent-only session will provide you with the tools, strategies and advice you need to have age-appropriate conversations with your children about pornography. It is never too early – even Junior School parents will find this session vital.

Maree will explore:

  • what parents need to know about pornography’s influence on young people’s sexual understandings and expectations
  • how to support your child’s healthy social and sexual development in the digital age.

Don’t miss this opportunity to feel better equipped to guide your child through a world that is very different to the one we grew up in.
