Carey Care

While the Parents Associations partly exist to bring the community together by organising social events, this isn’t all we do. We also run a program called Carey Care, which you might not have heard of.

Carey Care is a program that when one of our own is going through a difficult time, we as a community pull together to help in any way we can. The most common form of help comes in the preparation of meals. We call upon the year level of the family in need and put together rosters for meals to be delivered. This does not mean you have to be able to cook! We know how busy everyone is and preparing meals for our own families can be stressful enough let alone preparing additional meals. If you cannot cook a meal, you can order them or you can contribute funds that will allow us to organise the delivery on your behalf.

However, for some families, providing meals may not be the most effective way to help. Some require transportation for their children to activities. Once again, we do a call out to those that know the children and organise this so there is less stress for the family. That is what Carey Care is about. We work together as a community to help when a family is facing a difficult time and although most families have their close network, sharing the load makes a huge difference.

We work with the Chaplain and Deputy Heads as they are close to the students. At all time we respect the privacy of the families in need and operate with discretion and confidentiality – which is why you may not have heard of Carey Care.

If you need help or know of a family that may need a hand, then please keep the Parent Association’s Carey Care in mind and reach out. We are here and can lend a hand. The proverb ‘it takes a village to raise a child’ holds true in the Carey community.
