Jonathan Walter began his teaching career at Carey Baptist Grammar School in 1992 as a member of the Outdoor Education department. Jonathan shared his love of the outdoors through working with students in experiential settings, an involvement which he continues to manage with students today.

Following three years at Wesley College, teaching VCE Outdoor Education and IB Geography, he was appointed as Head of Caulfield Grammar School’s Yarra Junction Campus in the Yarra Valley. Jonathan was then appointed School Head of the Middle School at Caulfield Grammar School.

For the last nine years, Jonathan has been Principal of Woodleigh School; an ELC to Year 12, independent, co-educational school on the Mornington Peninsula.

Jonathan holds a BA, DipEd, and Master of School Leadership from the University of Melbourne, and has recently undertaken the Leading Learning that Matters program, a collaboration with Harvard University and Independent Schools Victoria. Jonathan currently serves as a member of the state executive of the Association of Heads of Independent Schools of Australia (AHISA) and has presented extensively on student-centred, holistic learning programs nationally and internationally.

Jonathan is married to Claire, and has three children – Ella, Claudia and Digby.
