Outdoor Education is an important part of the Carey learning journey, and Camp Toonallook is a home away from home for our students. Help us to revitalise the Camp Toonallook facilities in 2025!
Carey’s commitment to Outdoor Education has always been strong. Students in Years 4 to 7 experience Camp Toonallook annually to explore our 10 acres, which includes bush and tent camping sites, a kitchen and dining facility, three small residences for staff accommodation, an amenities block and a boat shed.
Over the years, Carey has maintained Camp Toonallook as a basic yet functional camp to meet the educational needs of our students. Today, our goal is to elevate Toona and refresh the entire site, including purpose-built gathering spaces, a new outdoor chapel and sustainable irrigation systems, ensuring the site remains relevant and valued into the future.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have been able to fund Access and Equity Scholarships for students who have exceptional potential but without the means to attend a school like Carey.
Sarah Pe's parents came to Australia as refugees, looking for a better life for themselves and their future children. Sarah was granted an Access and Equity Scholarship to attend Carey in Year 10 to 12, which she describes as the reason she became a nurse after she graduated in 2018.
'The scholarship meant so much to me. It gave me a chance to really believe in myself. I've always had the capability, but Carey gave me the confidence,' Sarah says.
