Centenary

In 2023 Carey will celebrate its centenary. That’s 100 years of developing wise, independent and motivated young people who are inspired and equipped to create positive change in our rapidly changing local, national and global communities.

The theme for our centenary is Honouring our past, embracing our future.

Our aim is to deliver an inclusive and accessible celebration, which pays tribute to our Baptist founders and the 100-year history of Carey Baptist Grammar School, and to acknowledge our past and present, strengthen relationships and inspire innovation as we move into our next century.

Statement from the Principal, Jonathan Walter

In 2023 we are celebrating our centenary year. Carey Baptist Grammar School was founded in 1923 and named in honour of Revd Dr William Carey. For 100 years now, Carey has been committed to developing wise, independent and motivated young people who are inspired to create positive change.

Underpinning our centenary year is our theme, ‘honouring our past, embracing our future’. Throughout the year we will deliver a range of inclusive, accessible celebrations for all members of our community to come together, reflect and commemorate this occasion.

Throughout Carey’s history, we have continued to grow, thrive and engage with our community. From being invited to join the Associated Public Schools of Victoria (APS) in 1957 to maintaining an even gender balance since 2011, we are proud of what Carey offers and all we have achieved. Our Strategic Direction continues to evolve to support our students, staff, parental and wider school community.

It seems fitting to launch our centenary celebrations on the same day as our school's official birthday, 13 February. We look forward to celebrating our centenary year with our community and seeing where the next 100 years take us.

We have a range of fun, limited edition products available to help you celebrate Carey's centenary in style!
