Last Saturday saw over 700 students from 16 schools across Victoria compete in the annual Carey Rowing Regatta at Nagambie Lakes.
It was such a special experience to have our senior rowers, in full school uniform, contributing so magnificently to the running of the day and creating such a friendly atmosphere. It really is unique in Victorian school rowing.
The event was brilliantly run by our rowing staff, led by Head of Rowing, Craig Adrians, along with the tireless Carey Rowing Club members who manned the gates, served food and coffee, drove power boats and sold programs.
Carey had 145 Year 8 and 9 students racing at the event. For the Year 8 rowers, this was their first 1000m schools regatta experience. It was great to see the crews learn and develop from the racing during the day. The regatta was capped off with a fine example of rowing by the three Carey Year 10 Boys Eights racing down in the A final, with the First crew leading all the way.
