It has been lovely to welcome students back for Term 2 and move straight into ensemble rehearsals. There is no doubt that it will be a busy but rewarding term with so many great things happening. The second week of the school holidays saw both Middle and Senior School Musical Casts on campus rehearsing. Shrek opens on Friday 30 April, running for seven shows. The cast, orchestra, crew and creatives have been working with enormous energy and enthusiasm and are very excited to be able to share their work with the Carey community.

Also coming up this term:

  • Autumn Music Camp – 15 to 17 May
  • Autumn Bands Concert – 27 May
  • Recital evening – 10 May
  • VSMF for the String groups – 1 June/3 June
  • IB/VCE Recitals – 24 May
  • VCE Theatre Studies play – 31 May/1 June
  • Choral evening – 7 June
  • MS Musical – opens 18 June

Renowned conductor and music educator Richard Gill believed that the Performing Arts is worth teaching, ‘Because it is good. It is worth teaching because it is unique. It is worth teaching because it empowers children spectacularly’. The Performing Arts Department look forward to sharing these performances with you all this term, giving you the opportunity to witness the confidence that comes from sharing authentic performances to a wider audience.
