Exchange and Tours
Exchange and Tours

At Carey, students have many exciting opportunities to travel interstate and overseas on exchanges and tours. These trips broaden students’ perspectives and allow them to experience life in other parts of the world.

Cultural Experience (Exchange)

In Year 9, students can choose to go on exchange to Canada, England, Indonesia, New Zealand or the USA.

The schools we normally offer overseas cultural exchanges to are:

Generally, the family of a student who travels on exchange hosts a reciprocal visit from an overseas student later in the year.

Curriculum Tours

Many tours directly complement the curriculum. These include:

  • French, Indonesian and Chinese tours for Languages students
  • an Art tour to Central Australia
  • the Year 12 Three Pillars Tour to Darwin, where students engage in many different outdoor activities and complete community service with an Indigenous community.

Robinson River

Robinson River is a remote Aboriginal community of about 200 people on Garawa Country in the Northern Territory. Carey has established a special relationship with the people of Robinson River and, along with various support programs throughout the year, make an annual  visit to the Robinson River School and community with a small group of Year 6 and Year 9 Carey students. A group of students and staff from the Robinson River School also visit Carey each year and spend time with our community.

World Challenge

World Challenge encourages students to step outside their comfort zones by completing an expedition to a developing country. During their time away, students must acclimatise to a different culture and carry out an extended community service project. World Challenge tours also require students to raise and manage the cost of their trip themselves, rather than relying on their families to pay for their experience.

Sport and Music Tours

We offer several interstate and overseas sports tours that involve a balance of training sessions, cultural awareness, matches and sightseeing. The most recent trips include a netball tour to New Zealand, a soccer tour to Spain, a cricket tour to Sri Lanka and basketball tour to the USA.

We also offer music tours to the UK and Europe.
