On a cold school day morning, the Jeffrey O Thomas Quadrangle was filled with the warmth of the ELC and Junior school students, together with their mums, grandmas, aunts and special people.

On 9 May 2024, the Kew Junior School Parents Association organised a heartwarming Mothers Day Breakfast to celebrate the special women in our lives. A record 330 tickets were sold this year and $2 from each ticket sold will go towards this year’s charity partner, The Nappy Collective, who came to express their gratitude for our generous donations. A total of $660 was donated to the Nappy Collective along with spare nappies.

Following a speech from Junior School Kew Captains, Mia and Rasiker, a delicious breakfast was served, including fluffy pancakes, breakfast rolls, an assortment of fruit and cereal, together with tea, and coffee and a variety of juices. The feast was followed by Kahoot! games with our theme this year being women in sport. The centrepieces for each table were decorated with hand-made craft from our wonderful volunteer Year 3 students.

We would like to thank Jane Batrouney, Sarah Broadbent, Elena Baklis, Madeline Yang, Fiona Sexton and Natalie Bode for giving up their time to help organise and stage such wonderful event. A further thank you to Kylie Baxter, Mel Brown and Lisa Stewart and their team for creating such a memorable video where our students expressed their love and gratitude to their mothers.

Such wonderful events bring together our community. It is a testament to the strong sense of community within our school and a perfect start to Mothers Day.
