Once again, Carey celebrated Harmony Week in style: decked out in orange and participating in activities from the many different cultures that make up the fabric of the Carey community.
Harmony Week isn’t just about international games and delicious food, though: it’s about diversity, inclusiveness, respect and providing a sense of belonging for everyone. A community made up of diverse backgrounds, experiences and perspectives is a more interesting, more productive and more tolerant one. At Carey, we embrace diversity in every form, and seek to provide a space for students, staff and families where everyone can feel safe to express themselves and their culture and will be met with understanding and enthusiasm.
To honour and celebrate the cultural diversity of the Carey community, staff and students recorded themselves saying a word or short phrase that represents Harmony Week in different languages to create this uplifting video.
