This year, our Year 7 students have been involved in a collaboration between Harvard University’s Project Zero and Independent Schools Victoria to investigate: how does Transformative Repair support student acknowledgment and interaction with sustainability through creative engagement?

The project explores how the practice of Transformative Repair might support new ways of thinking about damage and repair, as well as inspire care and compassion for oneself and others in one's community. The creative process and practice of creating art from ‘damaged or discarded’ objects seek to open discussion about and a creative response to our care of our local community or more broadly, our country.

Year 7 students have worked through a Transformative Repair process, to engage with ideas around ‘re-purposing’ recycling and Circular Design. Students have been creating thoughtful three-dimensional artworks inspired by artists working with a Transformative Repair approach to their art practice and, more specifically, work with our 2022 Middle School Artist in Residence, Liz Sonntag, aka TINKY, who works with miniature artworks which explore a satirical story or scene and highlight important stories about ourselves, our society, and our world.

Carey360 (Student Knowledge System) Update
You may recall reading about the projects of the Research and Innovation team during 2021. We are very pleased to inform you that we have made significant progress in this space, and we will roll out Carey360 (formerly the Student Knowledge System) as a trial with a group of staff next term, with the view to on-boarding all teaching staff next year. This will enable our teachers to have a clear 360-degree view of their students’ learning and wellbeing, their experiences, and their journey through Carey so that they can provide a more personalised experience within confidentiality levels. Carey360 is custom built to suit our requirements and, in time, the Carey Learner Profile and other important functions will be featured within Carey360. We look forward to revealing more about this project as we lead up to the launch of this exciting initiative.
