Holidays are something most of us look forward to as a chance to pause, recuperate, experience a more relaxed pace and enjoy the opportunity to do different things. While schools may appear vacant during holidays, many professional staff work during this time, and it is an opportunity for significant maintenance and improvement works to be undertaken while students are not onsite.

Just as holidays provide schools with a chance to undertake important building, grounds and other maintenance, students and teachers can also use this time to prepare for the term ahead. Senior School started this term with student and mentor conversations, which are an important opportunity for students to reflect on last semester, discuss academic and other goals, and refine their approach to achieve those goals this semester.

In addition to the resumption of classes and the co-curricular program, there are many opportunities and activities throughout the term for students to engage in. Activities in the first two weeks of term include the Zero Triad 3 return to school breakfast, Year 12 PJ day and SSPA pancakes breakfast, Senior Ensembles Music Camp, a Co-curricular Celebration Assembly, the annual House Cross Country competition, and Information Evenings for Year 10 and 11 in 2026.

Hopefully, the holidays aren’t yet a distant memory and have energised us for the term ahead.

Acting Head of Senior School
