One of the highlights of the event was the successful fundraising effort, raising $700 that will go towards refreshing some of the library’s older furniture. This achievement is a testament to the community's commitment to enhancing the School's resources and creating a more inviting space for everyone.
Families were treated to delicious cupcakes made by Florencia Sugar Art, who is one of our Carey parents and a talented baker. These delightful confections were a big hit, adding a welcome sweet afternoon treat to the event.
Children and parents alike enjoyed the interactive drawing session with Lucinda Gifford. Lucinda's expertise and engaging manner provided an inspiring and educational experience for all attendees. The joy of creating art together was evident, fostering a sense of creativity and connection among the participants.
Following the drawing session, attendees had the opportunity to have their books signed by Lucinda. This personal interaction with the illustrator added a special touch to the event, creating lasting memories for the children. Additionally, books were available for purchase from the Escape Hatch booksellers, allowing families to take home literary treasures that will surely enrich their reading experiences.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the volunteer parents and the Junior School – Kew campus library team whose efforts made this event possible. Their dedication and effort ensured that everything ran smoothly and that all attendees had a wonderful time. Additionally, a sincere thank you goes to the Carey leadership team and staff, the Maintenance team and Community Engagement for their unwavering support and contribution to the success of the event.
The Carey Celebrates Literature Festival's illustrator event with Lucinda Gifford was a resounding success and an unforgettable experience.
