What could be better in a school performing arts department than walking around and hearing lessons and rehearsals underway in what promises to be another great year of music and theatre making.

The Senior School Musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, is in full swing. The holiday intensive saw the cast rocket through the whole show, and the band is already sounding fabulous. The energy and commitment displayed is great to see and I know our community is in for a treat with this show.

Ensemble rehearsals have started well with excellent attendance and numbers in all of the groups. The Big Band and Stage Bands have moved straight into preparation for Generations in Jazz in May, and the Senior Ensembles are preparing for the Senior Ensembles Concert on Tuesday 17 March. Our Year 7 Beginners have all had their first lessons, and we really look forward to their first ensemble rehearsals on Tuesday 17 February. It is one of my favourite times of the year as they all start their ensemble experience. The difference between this first rehearsal and the end of the year is quite remarkable, and I look forward to the families of our beginners coming along for the ride!

If you have any queries regarding the Performing Arts program at Carey, please do reach out.

As ever, we are looking forward to sharing a great year with our Performing Arts community.
