The theme for our year of music making is ‘Time to thrive in ’25’ and students have been encouraged to take up new opportunities to learn an instrument, play a solo or join a new ensemble. With a significant intake into Year 5 this year, students in that cohort especially have been highly encouraged to become part of the thriving performance culture that exists in Junior School, by considering participating in the upcoming Beginner Band program, sing in a choir or join another group.

Our ensembles continue to thrive, with almost 50 members already in Los Bandidos, and very strong numbers in our multiple string ensembles such as Golden, Junior and Metcalfe Strings. Bel Canto has already performed at the Year 6 leaders’ induction and Commencement Service and many students have elected to audition for our select entry choir, Vivace.

Our Junior musicians have begun our year with great vim and vigour. I look forward to our future performances as well as seeing some of the new directions and ideas put forward by our newly minted Performing Arts Captains in their year of leadership. For any queries relating to Junior Music, please feel free to contact me for further detail.
