For more than 25 years, Greenfleet has delivered meaningful climate action by planting over 11 million native trees and creating more than 550 biodiverse forests across Australia and New Zealand. These forests are legally protected for up to 100 years, ensuring long-term carbon capture, habitat restoration and healthier ecosystems.
By working with Greenfleet, Carey offsets emissions associated specifically with Carey Zero including student air travel, staff travel and transport used at camp. While we continue improving sustainability across our operations, these activities currently involve unavoidable emissions. Greenfleet enables us to balance this footprint in a way that is transparent, science-aligned and environmentally restorative.
Carey’s Sustainability Plan focusses on reducing emissions over time through improved energy efficiency, increased use of renewable energy, strengthening transport planning and engaging students in thoughtful environmental action. Our partnership with Greenfleet supports this work by ensuring that the emissions we cannot yet eliminate, particularly those linked to experiential learning through Carey Zero, are responsibly offset.
Each tonne of CO₂ we offset contributes to protected native forests that restore ecosystems, enhance biodiversity and provide habitat for vulnerable species.
Through this collaboration:
Our partnership with Greenfleet complements Carey’s broader goal of reducing emissions year-on-year. By combining sustainable action such as renewable energy installations, waste reduction initiatives and behaviour change programs with high-quality Australian offsets for Carey Zero, we are building a responsible and well-rounded approach to climate action.
Climate change is one of the most significant challenges facing future generations. As an educational community, Carey has a responsibility to model action, inspire awareness and demonstrate care for people and planet. By offsetting the emissions generated through Carey Zero, we are investing in Australia’s forests, supporting wildlife and teaching our students that meaningful climate action is both possible and essential.
