Last Friday after school, our Carey Junior School – Kew community gathered for a delightful Welcome Picnic, and what a fantastic event it turned out to be! The sun was shining brightly, creating the perfect backdrop for an afternoon filled with fun, laughter and connections with friends new and old.
Families were entertained by the talented circus performers, face painters and an enthusiastic DJ, ensuring that there was never a dull moment. The Junior School Parent Association – Kew (JSPAK) were pleased to provide a free afternoon tea for the children to enjoy. The Zooper Doopers were a hit! Parents were also treated to hot drinks as an additional option while they enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere.
It was heartwarming to see so many families come together, along with our dedicated leadership team, to celebrate and connect. The picnic was undoubtedly a great success, offering a relaxed and fun-filled welcome to 2025 in the Junior School.
A huge thank you goes out to all the volunteers for their efforts and time. Thank you also to the Carey Maintenance team and Community Engagement team, and for the support of the leadership team, without which this event would not happen. We also thank Fiona Sexton for her wonderful photography on the day. Additionally, we extend our gratitude to the Swap Shop for their generosity in making this event possible.
Here's to a fantastic start to the school year and many more wonderful events to come!
On Valentine's Day, Junior School – Kew held an information session for the 2025 Class Representatives. It was wonderful to see our dedicated volunteers come together, demonstrating their commitment to fostering strong community ties within the School.
The event included freshly baked biscuits for morning tea and provided an opportunity for parents to mingle and connect in a relaxed setting.
The role of Class Representatives is pivotal in building community at Carey. These committed parents volunteer as key points of contact for families, helping to organise events and facilitate communication. Their involvement is instrumental in making the school environment inclusive and engaging for all.
Already, the Class Representatives have been actively connecting families through various activities. They've organised numerous coffee catch-ups, park playdates and evening gatherings for parents, all of which have been warmly received. These events provide valuable opportunities for families to socialise, share experiences and build lasting relationships.
The ongoing efforts of the Class Representatives are crucial in creating a strong sense of community in the Junior School. Their initiative and enthusiasm help to ensure that families feel connected and supported throughout the school year.
A special thank you goes to Courtney Doery, our new JSPAK Class Rep Co-ordinator, whose efforts in signing up parents and managing the Class Rep team is greatly appreciated.
Also, a big thank you to all the 2025 Class Representatives. We wish them continued success throughout the year as they foster the vibrant community spirit in Junior School!
