The weekend marked the conclusion of the APS 2026 Summer Sport season, and what a season it has been! Across all year levels and sports, Carey students demonstrated determination, teamwork, passion and pride. Below is a snapshot of some of the many standout moments from a busy and rewarding Term 1.

APS/AGSV Grand Finals

Girls Firsts Softball – Grand Final v Haileybury

Our Girls Firsts Softball team capped off an excellent season by securing a place in the Grand Final. In one of their strongest performances of the year, the girls fought hard in a high‑scoring contest, narrowly going down 13–10. Their teamwork, resilience and competitive spirit were outstanding, and they should be tremendously proud of their season.

Girls Firsts Touch Football – Grand Final v Mentone

The Girls Firsts Touch Football team also earned a Grand Final berth. Captain Alice set the tone, scoring in the opening minute. Mentone responded quickly with two tries, and the remainder of the match was a tightly contested battle. Carey eventually went down 4–1, but the team’s energy, unity and effort across the season were exceptional.

Congratulations to both teams for representing Carey with distinction.

Rowing – Nationals in Tasmania

Congratulations to our Boys First VIII, who qualified for and competed at the Australian National Championships in Tasmania. A strong heat performance saw them progress to the semi‑final. They delivered one of their best rows of the season in the B‑Final to close out their campaign.

Beyond results, the crew embraced the invaluable experience of competing alongside some of Australia’s top rowers and witnessed firsthand what it takes to perform at an elite level. The boys should feel incredibly proud of their growth and achievements.
