This year, Carey introduced Mind and Body as a summer sport option for Senior School students. The Mind and Body program is a physical activity wellbeing program that holistically promotes wellbeing the mind and body from the inside out. Its purpose is to bring creativity, clarity and calmness to the mind and strengthen, lengthen, tone and loosen the body in order to promote its optimal functioning. The Mind and Body program had a different activity focus each week including activities such as bush walking, yoga, yin yoga, Pilates, smoothie-making, massage and meditation and volunteering. All activities ran for two sessions each week, so students got to immerse themselves in the focus for that week.

This program was a fantastic opportunity for students to engage in a variety of activities that focussed on promoting wellbeing and nourishing their mind and body. We had external instructors come to run the yoga and Pilates sessions which was a beneficial way for students to experience these exercises safely. The instructors brought a heap of energy, and this was one of the favourite parts of the program according to the Mind and Body students!

Anadina, a Year 11 student, commented that, ‘This program exposed me to a lot of different activities with its rotating schedule. I had a lot of fun.’

We are looking forward to running the Mind and Body program again next year!
