Being an active member of the Carey Junior School community enhances your Carey experience as a Junior School parent. As your children move through the School, you come to realise the benefit of those strong friendships and networks. It is for this very reason that the parents associations exist: to build a strong and vibrant community.
The Junior School Parents Association (JSPA) provided many opportunities for parents and carers to connect with others at a range of School events in 2019. This included our signature event the Welcome Carnival, our Mothers Day and Fathers Day Breakfasts and our Sausage Sizzles to celebrate the end of each term. It also extended to supporting our Class Reps as they organised class and year level activities.
In 2019, the JSPA Committee met twice each term to discuss all things Junior School Kew (JSK). We worked in co-operation with Community Engagement and closely with our Head of School, Libby Russell. Our meetings were full of questions, discussions, planning and laughter. It has been an extremely satisfying experience where we have felt valued, developed new skills and have a greater understanding of the workings of the whole School.
The JSPA will hold its Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 19 November in the UN Room and we encourage all parents of JSK children in 2020 to attend, have your say and get involved.
