Carey Rocks – the Year 12 Formal
For many, a School Formal can be a source of some anxiety and anguish. Questions such as: Do I take a partner, and if so, who to invite? Will they accept my invitation? What do I wear? Who will be on my table? Where should I go before hand? Where should I go afterwards? I’m sure a number of readers can relate to these experiences. And while I’m sure there were anxious ‘moments’ for some students in the lead up to the formal, we couldn’t be more proud of our students and the values they displayed on the night.

On Saturday 16 April, the Year 12 cohort and partners attended the 2016 Formal at Leonda by the Yarra. It was a fantastic evening with the students relishing the chance to celebrate together, dress up, and walk the red carpet. ‘Inclusivity’ is a word that best describes the evening. Awards such as ‘Cutest Couple’, ‘Best Dressed’ and, of course, the ‘King and Queen of the Formal’ were thoughtfully decided and terrifically received.

The behaviour of the students was impeccable and was a tribute to their willingness to have and respect each other and the School. We also thank all parents and families who hosted ‘before’ and ‘after’ gatherings for their support of the School and its policies on this evening. Well done to all students who attended, and especially to Year 12 student organisers Alexandra Agostini, Marcus Carfi and Liv Ellis, as well as Sarah Brady in the Senior School office, for their work in the organisation of the evening.
