From the Deputy Head of Senior School

Last Thursday, Tanya Loucas and Rachael Main were among students presented with Study Awards at the Premier’s VCE Awards function. These awards recognise the top performing students in each Unit 3-4 VCE subject from the previous year. Rachael received one of the four awards for Physical Education, and Tanya was one of five recipients of an award for Visual Communication and Design. Both students achieved study scores of 50, the highest score possible. Rachael’s Physical Education teacher Mrs Sally Nelson also attended the ceremony.

During Term 1, based on Unit 3-4 work in 2016, four Carey VCE students were invited to include their artwork, or to perform at events run by the VCAA to highlight excellence in Design and Performance subjects. Product Design and Technology Work by Matthew Daniels and Tobias Payne has been included in Top Designs Exhibition. Theatre Studies students Hannah Jonas and Sophie Terry performed in Top Class performances. In addition to highlighting student excellence, the programs also help students and teachers preparing for assessments in the following year.

Also last term, the four Carey IB students who achieved perfect IB scores of 45, Alexandra Agostini, James Lin, Ella Wilson and Abigail Zhang, and 25 other Carey students were among those acknowledged for their outstanding academic achievements at the Victorian and Tasmanian IB Awards Ceremony. In addition, work by Imogen Gerraty, Eliza Williams, Jordan Smith and Sally Wang was included in the IB Visual Arts Exhibition.

We look forward to celebrating the achievements, academic and other, of all our students this year, including those who achieve recognition beyond the school.
