Carey Donvale students have again embraced the opportunity to get involved in the nationwide Mathematics Talent Quest. This is an enrichment opportunity for our best mathematics students and for those with a passion for maths. Each year we are permitted to enter up to 50 projects and every year we reach close to this number.

The Quest requires students to conduct a real life mathematical investigation which is submitted for independent judging by the Maths Association of Victoria.

This year was particularly successful for Carey Donvale. In addition to receiving our 10th successive ‘Outstanding School Award’, a select group of our students received top individual honours.

Abbey Turner won two individual awards:

  • State Level – Best individual project of any student in Victoria in Years 3-6.
  • National Level – Best individual Year 6 project in Australia.

Catia Pace and Lucy Herbert won the Best Group Project in Australia. While Declan and Aidan Croucher were selected for Nationals. 50 per cent of our students who entered, received Distinctions or High Distinctions. This is a fantastic effort by our students at Carey Donvale and we extend our congratulations to them all.
