On Wednesday 3 September, the Carey community gathered in the Quad for the annual Pink Ribbon Breakfast. This year’s breakfast was dedicated to our very own Susan Crawshaw – ex-staff member and friend to many. Susan is currently receiving care at Caritas Christie Hospice Kew fighting the good fight.

Susan attended the breakfast to hear her son Richard tell her inspiration story of survival and her daughter Lydia perform a number of songs that she has written for her mother. Susan was a much loved member of the Music Department from 1994 until 2007. She taught Piano and Voice to a generation of students and was involved in over 20 Carey Musicals.

Attendees at the Breakfast were also treated to a performance by Carey’s A Cappella group who delighted the audience with their polished presentation. It was fitting that A Cappella sang at the Breakfast as Susan was, for many years, the accompanist and musical inspiration for this group.

As always, the Pink Ribbon Breakfast was one of the highlights of the Carey social calendar and we thank all who attended to support such a worthy cause.
