The highly anticipated Carey Mothers Day Luncheon was held once again last Friday at Leonda by the Yarra. It was a great success and an enjoyable, fun afternoon for the almost 440 Carey mums in attendance. In its second year at Leonda, the Luncheon has become a truly whole-school event, with mums from every section of Carey represented. The event provides an opportunity to relax and catch up for a few hours in an otherwise busy schedule, where we are often bypassing each other at school drop-off or pick-up. We all enjoyed the good food, great company of our fellow Carey mums, and the funny (and sometimes bossy) antics of the Master of Ceremonies, our very own Karen Sims, past Carey parent and current comedian. New additions to the Luncheon this year included a flower wall for photos and an Instagram hashtag, both of which were very popular!
Thank you to everyone who attended, and to all those who have embraced the event and made it a wonderful day out! Almost half of those in attendance also joined us afterwards at the post-luncheon event, with most of those making the sensible decision to use the bus service we provided for transport. We would also like to thank the greater Carey community. In particular, we’d like to thank the School for its ongoing support, the family-owned businesses who donated the wonderful prizes, and of course the dads and other carers, who supported our mums to attend and stay on for the post-luncheon event. The community has embraced and supported the Luncheon which not only celebrates mums for Mothers Day, but assists those in need through our chosen charities, Share The Dignity and Carey’s Own. For this we are grateful. We hope all Carey mums and carers have a very happy Mothers Day.
