Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated professionals for the full time position of Student Guidance Coordinator commencing Term 1, 2018 based at our Kew campus.

Purpose of Role

We are seeking a professional who is passionate about working with and supporting students who require guidance and assistance in times of setback. This requires you to work effectively as an individual and as a member of a team and operate within a multidisciplinary framework. You will need sound engagement skills and the ability to establish and develop professional relationships that supports students, staff and families in assisting students’ personal development through the conceptual framework of restorative practice and positive psychology.

Reporting to the Head of Student Development, this role has wellbeing, risk assessment, administrative and student management components. The key function of this role is to implement school policies and procedures and maintain safety across the school for students, staff and the Carey community. In addition, the role requires the capacity to work cooperatively with school management and communicate effectively with all members of the school community, including parents and professionals from external agencies. The Student Guidance Coordinator needs to be able to respond quickly to adverse events and identify potential wellbeing and safety concerns as well as ascertain any material risks to students, staff and the broader community.

You will develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and have the ability to work as a part of a team, ensuring the best possible service delivery for the Carey community.

Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Qualifications in Social or Youth Work
  • Experience in developing Youth wellbeing programs
  • A knowledge of school systems is an advantage
