Applications are invited from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated professionals for the part-time (0.7FTE) position of Art Teacher based at our Junior School Kew campus, commencing Term 1, 2020.

At Carey, we pride ourselves on providing a curriculum tailored to the interests and abilities of each student.  Our Kew Junior School has approximately 650 students from ELC – Year 6 and offers a broad range of opportunities to support our students in their learning, wellbeing, creativity and confidence. Creativity and imagination are fostered through the Art program and provide opportunities for students to develop skills in the core areas of painting, drawing, ceramics, construction, mixed media and technology. The history of Art is embedded in the projects that students complete and gallery visits are used to motivate and inspire. Students are  are explicitly taught how to use different materials so they can make informed choices when expressing themselves visually.

Professional Development

Carey teachers keep abreast of developments in curriculum and teaching techniques in the areas of their teaching responsibility as well as current developments in educational research and thinking. They contribute to the professional development of other staff members within the School by sharing knowledge, ideas and resources. They acknowledge the role they play in parent education and in keeping the community informed of developments in their profession.

Valid VIT registration is a requirement of employment.
