Carey is proud to share our 2018 Year 12 results. These results reflect the dedication and perseverance of our students over many years at Carey.

As we acknowledge those who have placed themselves among the highest academic achievers in Victoria, at Carey we celebrate our students’ successes in all facets of life. Developing the whole student involves not only encouraging academic efforts, but supporting and celebrating creativity, innovation, aspiration, service, curiosity and courage.

The Class of 2018 have made many contributions to Carey and the broader community and will continue to create positive change in their lives beyond school. Most will continue study next year, and we anticipate over half getting their first university preference and 90% receiving one of their first three preferences.

The Year 12 Class of 2018 achieved excellent academic results:

  • 21% of ATAR scores were above 95 (in the top 5% of Australia)
  • 63% of all ATAR scores were 80 or above (in the top 20% of Australia)
  • The Carey median ATAR is 85.5
  • Our IB Average score of 35.3 is well above worldwide average.
  • 15 students from IB and VCE programs obtained ATAR scores of 99 or above; and
  • The 2018 Duces of Carey are Ben Neale who studied VCE and achieved an ATAR score of 99.85 and Patrick Chappell, Liam Croucher and Felicity Thianesysavanh who achieved an IB score of 44 which translates to an ATAR of 99.85.

At Carey, we remain steadfastly committed to our open enrolment policy. From the VCE to the IB and from VET to Distance Education, the suite of curriculum offerings enables our students to explore their interests, develop a pathway and pursue their passion.

In partnership with parents, our sincere thanks go to our outstanding team of teaching and professional support staff for their hard work and dedication in support of our students, not just at the Year 12 level, but throughout the students’ Carey journeys. We know our students, staff, and parents are committed to enabling each student to achieve their best. There is enormous pride in student achievement that is a result of perseverance and focus.

We recognise that our students are more than the sum of their academic results and are confident they enter the next stage of their lives well prepared to take on challenges with courage, compassion and intelligence. To celebrate the achievements of the Class of 2018, we interviewed eight graduating students about their experiences and successes at Carey, and how these will shape their lives beyond school. We congratulate each Year 12 student of 2018 and wish each student all the very best for the future.
