Common Unit

Unit description

This unit extends students' appreciation and enjoyment of literature through the class study of short stories, poetry and the continuation of the Wide Reading program.

During the course of the semester, written expression continues to be developed by studying different styles of writing, experimenting with language and demonstrating control over the technical aspects of English.

Using the pedagogies of Bloom and Gardner as a directive, students complete a range of 'Multiple Intelligence' activities and work collaboratively as well as individually. Oral communication skills continue to be a focus through formal and informal presentations.
