Before selecting a Mathematics course students should be aware of tertiary entrance prerequisite requirements.
The choice of courses and the number of units undertaken should reflect the student's ability in mathematics. Combinations of courses other than those outlined below are possible and should be discussed with the Head of Mathematics and Information Technology.

Restrictions on course selection
Students should be aware that there are certain restrictions on the choice of Mathematics courses:
- General Mathematics A may not be taken without Mathematical Methods CAS: Units 1 and 2.
- Only one course in General Mathematics may be taken.
- Students studying Mathematical Methods CAS: Units 3 and 4 must have successfully completed Mathematical Methods CAS: Units 1 and 2.
- Students who are intending to study Specialist Mathematics in Year 12 must also have completed, or be concurrently studying, Mathematical Methods CAS: Units 3 and 4, and should also have studied General Mathematics A: Units 1 and 2.
- Students may not obtain credit for more than four units of General Mathematics: Units 1 and 2 and Mathematical Methods CAS: 1 and 2.
- Students studying University Enhancement Mathematics must concurrently study Specialist Mathematics Units 3 and 4.
- Students can only include up to two of the following Unit 3 and 4 sequences in their primary four subjects towards their ENTER Score: Further Mathematics, Mathematical Methods and Specialist Mathematics. The third, or University Enhancement Mathematics, will contribute an increment to their ENTER Score. University Enhancement will only count as a sixth subject and no more than three of the four possible Mathematics courses will be included in the ENTER Score.
