Design and Technology: Fabulous Fashion

Enrichment: Elective Unit

Prerequisite

This unit is for those who have already completed a Fabulous Fashion semester in Year 8 and are competent with basic sewing skills and their applications.

Unit description

Students are provided with a design problem and develop their own brief. They visually present design stories and ideas through drawings, theme boards and discussion. Students will explore a variety of ways to creatively generate innovative products through research and developmental work. They will specialise in textile and fashion design employing various textile machinery and techniques. Students will effectively reflect and evaluate their design and production journey.

In this unit students will explore the following essential questions:

• What role does research and development play in the designing of a product?
• What is the role and importance of the design brief?
