Music  >  Tuition Program  >  Choice of instrument or voice

Carey offers students a choice of more than 24 instruments including voice. There are several matters to take in consideration when making the choice of whether to study instrument or voice.

Tuition on certain instruments should start at a young age in order to benefit from the early stages of perception and motor skills development. Some instruments are the main instruments in a performance group and will be featured, for example violin. Some instruments are not as popular, so students playing these instruments find that they are very sought after, such as bassoon or viola. Some have special opportunities and provide additional support and recognition, for example harpsichord.

For further information please research websites for information about choice of instrument generated by parent groups and other organisations.
