Welcome to Term 3. I hope families had an enjoyable break and that students are prepared for a busy term ahead. Families will have received student reports during the break. I spoke to students yesterday about the need to reflect on the feedback in these reports and to devise action plans, big or small, for Terms 3 and 4. All students should be setting themselves goals for the remainder of the year and beyond.

Head of Senior School

Year 12 Formal

Congratulations to all students on the way they conducted themselves at the Year 12 Formal at Leonda by the Yarra on 27 June. It was a terrific night and students approached the evening in the spirit of the occasion. Many thanks to Year 12 Prefects Lucy Arthur and James Courtot and staff members Anne O’Brien and Heather De Morton for their organisation of such a successful evening. We can again approach next year’s Formal with a great deal of confidence.

IB Information

As stated in a previous Newsletter, one of the strengths of the VCE is its flexibility. A selection of students from my Year 12 National Politics class illustrates this feature. Login to Blackboard to read more

2009 Subject selection and course decisions are happening this term. Find an article from a past IB student and teacher at Carey who reflects on their decision to study the IB Diploma course. Login to Blackboard to read more

Parent Satisfaction Survey

We have again agreed to participate in a parent satisfaction survey being co-ordinated by the Association of Independent Schools of Victoria (AISV). This survey will provide us with ongoing sector wide comparative data. Assuming we have your correct email details, you will shortly receive communication from AISV requesting your assistance with an online survey.  I ask that you take the time to complete the questionnaire and look forward to providing feedback to the Carey community at a later date. Thanks in anticipation.

Please contact Jacquie Lyon on jacquie.lyon@carey.com.au or 9816 1255 if you have any questions.
