A Carey Baptist Grammar School Fundraising spectacular
9 September 2008
Carey Sports Complex, Bulleen Road, Bulleen

WHY?

Carey students are passionate about these causes and are kids who want to help other kids in the world; those who are in need and are less fortunate than themselves. This major fundraising event will raise money for two fantastic not-for-profit organisations:

WAR Child
A foundation which focuses on helping child victims of war in areas such as Afghanistan, Bosnia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Kenya. These children need help urgently because many are either traumatised by war, suffer from injury or are still forced to be child soldiers; some as young as 9 years old. Many of these children are abandoned orphans too.

The Borneo Outreach Program
A group of students from Carey, through the organisation “World Challenge”, is travelling to some of the poorest regions of Borneo and will work in third world conditions to try and help with schooling facilities, water needs and hygiene problems to further help Borneo.

MEDIA - WE NEED YOU!

Please publicise a good cause
This event is initiated, organised and driven by 15 and 16 year old students who are leading their fellow students to help others in need. They are motivated to make a difference in the world and have challenged themselves to break a Guinness World Record. Your help with publicity will make this event a success.

A World Record - now there’s a story!

  • 1200 students, plus teachers, parents and supporters, lined up in pairs along a 300 metre starting line. They will all race simultaneously along 50 metres to the finish line.
  • An official Guinness World Records adjudicator at the event – media interviews welcome.
  • An Award Ceremony for winning racers and sponsorship acknowledgements.
  • The awarding of the Guinness World Record.

The current Guinness World Record is 700 paricipants, so we intend to SMASH this!
