Katy's Aspiring Adventures!
05 Feb 2010
Katy Shorthouse (’90) says her time at Carey helped to develop the love of the outdoors that has shaped her life.
After studying journalism at RMIT, Katy worked as a journalist and in publishing before starting work as a guide in 2001. Since basing herself in Peru in 2003, she has travelled extensively throughout Central and South America, hiking the Inca Trail 13 times, swimming with whales in Costa Rica, and even evacuating tour groups from erupting volcanoes in Ecuador.
She now lives in Cusco, Peru and with her New Zealand-based business partner runs adventure travel company, Aspiring Adventures. She was commissioned to update the Cusco and Lake Titicaca chapters of the Lonely Planet Guide to Peru and has opened a bar in Cusco which she hopes will provide income as she builds her Aspiring Adventures tour business.
Aspiring Adventures runs dynamic, culturally focused tours in Peru, Australia, New Zealand and Vanuatu, www.aspiringadventures.com
