This is the tale of a ‘guttersnipe’ Cockney flower girl heroine who is trained by a misogynistic bachelor and linguistics expert to speak properly within six months - the result of a daring challenge and bet. During her elocution lessons, her calculating unrepentant drunk of a father appears for handouts. Despite an embarrassing first appearance at the opening day of the Ascot Races, she catches the eye of high-born but poor Freddie Eynsford-Hill. Although she experiences personal triumph in high society at the Embassy Ball, the ending with a twist will surprise you!.
