A Christian Co-educational International School

Senior School

Carey’s range of curriculum offerings is second to none.

We offer a choice of International Baccalaureate Diploma or the Victorian Certificate of Education and a curriculum in all Learning Areas, whether in VCE or IB, that is rich in challenges and experiences to stimulate and engage the students.

Our students have access to Vocational Education and Training subjects and University Extension subjects. Carey is a member of the Inner Melbourne VE&T Cluster of schools, which allows students from schools within the Cluster to undertake VE&T studies as part of their VCE program.

The University Extension program allows Year 12 students to extend themselves beyond what can be achieved through the normal Year 12 program. University Extension has a number of benefits: an increment on the ENTER Score of up to 5.5 points; inclusion in a special category that draws the attention of selection officers for tertiary institutions; acceleration of the undergraduate program to allow study at second year level; an opportunity to reduce their load in subsequent years of tertiary study; increased access to scholarships and prizes awarded by individual universities and their departments.

All the Senior School programs incorporate visits from speakers and presenters, interesting research projects, excursions and camps off campus. Business Studies students extend their knowledge and gain valuable experiences through participation in competitions, industry links and community experiences. The English Department provides an extensive VCE and IB lecture series, theatre performances and workshops associated with the texts and a writer-in-residence program and Master Classes for students who wish to develop their writing talents. Humanities subjects promote tolerance of diverse visions of life through study and discussion focussing on societies, issues and values.
