In addition to productions that form part of Drama studies within the curriculum, students have many opportunities to join the performing arts program in the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools. Whether it be on stage in one of the many plays or musicals presented, backstage learning the art of stage make-up, set design, lighting or sound, or in the orchestra pit playing beautiful musical scores, there are opportunities for all. Each year the Middle and Senior School present a musical and a fully staged play with large casts and backstage support teams. The Junior School students are introduced to theatre through an bi-annual musical (both Donvale and Kew) that thrill and excite every participant from Prep to Year 6.
Students who are interested in any role within these productions should contact the Head of Drama or log onto CareyLink for information.
Speech and Drama Tuition is also offered at both Donvale and Kew for students from Years 3- 12. These one-on-one classes, or small group sessions, offer the students opportunities to perform in different venues, at a variety of functions and at different levels to assist the students' development in performance, audience awareness, communication and the enjoyment that comes with entertainment and performance. Speech and Drama is a fun, energetic and creative avenue of learning, acting, performance, communication and personal development. It enables students to learn clear, concise communication skills which can be used in every facet of life from daily conversation to the best performances of a lifetime.
